Hi, I’m Cate!

Cate Anderson is a copywriter, editor, and storyteller who loves to weave nuanced, magnetic narratives to communicate complex ideas concisely. She believes in the power of stories to facilitate communication and community — even in a corporate newsletter or a hard-boiled training manual.

Upon graduating with her BA in English, she landed a job in information security education and documentation at Nano Banc. Cate wrote a broad body of work, with content including educational cybersecurity materials, corporate newsletter copy, internal blog posts, complex training manuals, and intricate compliance procedures, to name a few. While she enjoyed her work, she wanted to branch her skillset into email and web copy. And so began her journey as a freelancer.

Trained from the pre-AI age, Cate is extremely comfortable creating copy as an unassisted human. Nonetheless, she has also adopted ChatGPT, and other assistive technologies, to increase the turnaround of specified content in limited, ethical applications. She is delighted to offer both services to clients depending on their needs and preferences.

I like to strike a balance between professionalism and approachability in my work when given creative freedom. Writing is a tool that should serve a purpose, and unless that purpose is to be stuffy, it should be engaging and memorable to best accomplish its main objectives.

I can match any brand style or tone. I ask many questions at the start of a project, as I like to gain an accurate sense of the assignment and expectations. I like doing things right the first time and I want you to be satisfied with the final product.

My main goal as an editor is to understand the destination and to guide the piece towards it. I will always do my best to preserve the author’s original voice and tone. I prefer to work in “tracked changes” drafts when possible, as editing is extremely subjective and I want you to be happy with the direction before changes are executed.
